First Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria, Next Vaccination-Resistant Viruses?

We all know that bacteria have increasingly become resistant to antibiotics and that now there are powerfully resistant strains that do not respond to the current range of man-made antibiotics available. There is a race now to develop new antibiotics to try to beat these microorganisms that can mutate readily with the right environments.

What was once a life-saving medical intervention is losing its effectiveness largely because of excessive use both for humans, and in particular for animals that account for 90% of antibiotic use. This is a problem we have brought on ourselves, and the solution will need reduction and more restricted use of new antibiotics in the future and a massive antibiotic reduction in industrialized farming of animals in disease generating environments.

This, in itself, is a serious global problem but not as great as that posed by international wholesale vaccination that will generate more and more resistant strains that may quickly overcome any attempt to keep pace with new man-made vaccines. This potential problem is far greater than the current antibiotic resistance one, for the simple reason that it is relatively easy to knock-out a new bacterium that is a far more complex and susceptible organism than a virus that can mutate rapidly and easily as we are already witnessing.

Natural Immunity

Everyone is well informed about Covid-19 that has brought much of the world to a unique social and economic grinding halt.

This was not because of the virus, but because of our response to it.

For thousands of years, mankind had been able to survive millions of viral threats because we have evolved a most remarkable and incomprehensibly complex immune system over that same period.

We are now told that we all need regular repeated vaccinations of the entire world to protect us from mutant variants of the virus along with social distancing, regular hand sanitation, and wearing of masks.

There can be no return to normal living if this is the rational assessment of the global situation.

Dr. Bruce Lipton has published a video HERE that explains how we are all protected by our immune systems. Perhaps we should all do whatever we can to strengthen this protection and only use vaccinations when absolutely necessary and not indiscriminately for everyone. We will never be able to replace our inherited immune systems with any amount of vaccines, gene therapies, or drugs. That would be a sign of either gross ignorance or scientific arrogance.

Both problems are related to the fact that we need to be cautious when trying to replicate, replace, or sub-ordinate our natural defence mechanisms, we need judicious, intelligent evaluation of each clinical situation and not rely on quick fixes that may have long-term serious ramifications.

We need more humility when we interfere in complex systems that have evolved over millennia.

Where are the medical leaders who are not driven by the immediate demands of governments and commercial powers? We need them to speak up and add cautionary advice on these matters.

Confusion of Gene Therapy with Vaccination

The mRNA “vaccines” created by Moderna and Pfizer are gene therapies. They meet all the definitions of gene therapy and none of the definitions for a vaccine. This matters, as you cannot mandate a gene therapy against COVID-19 any more than you can force entire populations to undergo gene therapy for a cancer they do not have and may never be at risk of developing. The mRNA contains genetic instructions for making various proteins. mRNA “vaccines” deliver a synthetic version of mRNA into your cells that carry the instruction to produce the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, the antigen, that then activates your immune system to produce antibodies.

The only one benefiting from an mRNA “vaccine” is the vaccinated individual, since all they are designed to do is lessen clinical symptoms associated with the S-1 spike protein. Since you’re the only one who will reap a benefit, it makes no sense to demand you accept the risks of the therapy “for the greater good” of your community.

Since mRNA “vaccines” do not meet the medical and/or legal definition of a vaccine, marketing them as such is a deceptive practice that violates the law that governs advertising of medical practices.

SARS-CoV-2 has not even been proven to be the cause of COVID-19. So, a gene therapy that instructs your body to produce a SARS-CoV-2 antigen — the viral spike protein — cannot be said to be preventive against COVID-19, as the two have not been shown to be causally linked.

Herd Immunity Threshold Vastly Overestimated

Modellers were incorrect when they predicted that 70% to 80% would get infected before herd immunity would naturally allow the spread of infection to taper off.

In reality, the herd immunity threshold has turned out to be far lower, which removes the justification for social distancing and lock-downs. More than a dozen scientists now claim the herd immunity threshold is likely below 50%, perhaps even as low as 10%. Data from Stockholm County, Sweden, show a herd immunity threshold of 17%. In an essay, Brown University professor Dr. Andrew Bostom noted:

“Lead investigator Dr. Gomes, from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and her colleagues concluded: ‘naturally acquired immunity to SARS-CoV-2 may place populations over the herd immunity threshold once as few as 10-20% of its individuals are immune.’

Separate HIT [herd immunity threshold] calculations of 9%, 10-20%, 17% and 43% — each substantially below the dogmatically asserted value of ~70% — have been reported by investigators from Tel-Aviv University, Oxford University, University College of London, and Stockholm University, respectively.”

How could they get this so wrong? Herd immunity is calculated using the reproductive number, or R-naught (R0), which is the estimated number of new infections that may occur from one infected person. R0 of below 1 (with R1 meaning that one person who’s infected is expected to infect one other person) indicates that cases are declining while R0 above 1 suggests cases are on the rise. It’s far from an exact science, however, as a person’s susceptibility to infection varies depending on many factors, including their health, age, and contacts within a community. The initial R0 calculations for COVID-19’s herd immunity threshold were based on assumptions that everyone has the same susceptibility and would be mixing randomly with others in the community.

That doesn’t happen in real life though. According to professor Karl Friston, a statistician, “effective susceptible population,” meaning those not already immune to COVID-19 and therefore at risk of infection, was never 100%. At most, it was 50% and most likely only around 20%.

Despite the mounting of such data and the clear knowledge that lockdowns were causing unimaginable harm to mental health, physical health, education, and local economies, lockdowns were repeatedly implemented in various parts of the world.

The initial modelling report from the Imperial College COVID-19 Response Team actually admitted it did “not consider the ethical or economic implications” of the pandemic measures proposed, noting only that “The social and economic effects of the measures which are needed to achieve this policy goal will be profound.” Today, we have a much better grasp on just how profound the social and economic effects have in fact been, and they’re devastating.

Linguistics Under Attack

Over the last few months, there has been a rewriting of a few terms in healthcare and medicine to fit the current situation with COVID-19. The changes are subtle but together are very significant if we are ever to return to life anything as it was pre-2020.

Herd Immunity

Ever since I can recall, the concept of “herd immunity” referred to the naturally developing immunity to disease over time as everyone as is exposed to the disease and develop their individual resistance to the disease. This has now been re-defined as occurring when everyone has been vaccinated against the disease, not the natural process of the past but a medically driven mass vaccination independent of the normally developing individual immune response.

Vaccine

The second re-definition that I discovered was the inherent meaning of the word “vaccine”. All past medical definitions I have checked define a vaccine as “a medical injection or other means of the introduction of a substance that protects the patient from contracting a disease and prevents the individual from transmitting the same disease.”

However, the three major new “vaccines” based on mRNA, do not claim to protect against infection but primarily reduce the severity of the infection, and also do not ensure the reduced transmission of the disease. It is also worth noting that past vaccines have been diligently tested over many years before being deemed safe, whereas the mRNA jabs are still novel, experimental medicines that have been given a safety clearance after only months of testing. This, despite previous similar jabs based on mRNA design, having been stopped because of serious adverse reactions, and only with the chemotherapeutic treatment of cancer patients did they continue to be used.

There may be another reason why these new jabs have been given the highest recognition as vaccines, in order to encourage the rapid development and use of them. Currently, in the USA and in the UK, the responsibility for the safety of all vaccines has been taken over by the Governments, the manufacturers are no longer responsible for ensuring the safety of their products if they are called vaccines, but are still fully liable for all other drugs they produce. My concern is that this protection could lead to lower safety standards and less testing for adverse reactions or effectiveness.

Case

Now comes the third re-defined word I have met, “case”.  Traditionally and in practice, a case of any disease meant the observation and evaluation of a person who had shown symptoms and signs of the disease. A simple logical definition most would agree with, but in recent months we have been regularly informed of the number of new cases of COVID-19 as simply a person testing positive to one of the current testing procedures. This, despite the fact that it is accepted that there are many false positives. If this were a minor error it would not be significant but there may be as many as 80% false positives.

On the basis of these questionable tests, the public is given an impression of an epidemic greater than the true situation and on this “evidence” we are subjected to continuing lockdown and increased anxiety of the disease.

Health

I am now waiting to see that the word “health” is going to be re-defined as “an absence of disease”. I have often asked audiences what they understand “health” is, and all have agreed it is far more than an absence of diseases. This is a fundamental problem for modern medicine. Its dominant focus on treating diseases and lack of concern for promoting healthy living has led us to the sick state we find ourselves suffering from in the so-called developed nations. If we accept this concept that health is simply an absence of disease then we are set for an eternity of ever-increasing medical treatment, more routine drugs for every man, woman, and child. Forget healthy living, this will be worse than any 1984 scenario.

Further reading: 1984 has arrived in 2021 with new speak redefining our language

Finally, just to be clear, I am not an anti-vaxer, but prefer to see medicine used with discrimination and good judgment, not routinely without consideration of potential adverse effects.

I am in favour of the Hippocratic oath “ I promise to do no harm” which has been severely diluted to permit the use of medical procedures that, in balance, do more good than harm on a community basis but may not apply so well for individuals!

Health for everyone is not some dreamer’s utopia. It is the norm that nature tends towards, it may be best defined as the consequence of a growing wholeness at all levels. In fact, the very word is derived from old English Hale, which means Whole.

Our individual health is reflected in the health of the family, the community, mankind, and the entire planet.

We cannot take up arms against the whole of nature and hope to beat her. We are not that wise or powerful.

We must start a new way of living that embraces nature and that does not destroy the fauna, flora, land, seas, and air in the name of human progress.

We must learn to be less arrogant, more humble, and rejoice in how much we have learned so far, but how infinitely greater is our ignorance of life and the universe.

We’re currently living through unprecedented times and the coronavirus pandemic has really put a spotlight on the importance of maintaining a healthy immune system.

I know it’s been a difficult few weeks as the country remains in quarantine – but staying inside gives us a great opportunity to protect the NHS and for us to fight Covid-19 by improving our health, first and foremost, at home.

The term “immune system” is banded around a lot by health professionals, but it simply refers to the complex network of cells, blood, bone marrow, tissues and organs in your body that work together to fight bacteria and viruses.

Your immune system is your first line of defence against infectious diseases, though you’ll often hear people say that they simply have a good or a bad immune system.

And whilst it’s true that some people do seem to have better immunity than others, the good news is there are lots of things you can do to boost your immune system in quick and effective ways.

Make sure you stick to a healthy balanced diet

Never under-estimate the importance of a healthy, balanced diet when it comes to giving you the vital vitamins and nutrients that your body needs for better immunity through food.

It can be tempting, especially whilst we’re all staying indoors during quarantine, to stop cooking healthy food and to binge on takeaways and unhealthy snacks.

We’ve all been there – but now more than ever you should be placing an emphasis on healthy eating to make sure you’re fuelling your body to fight infection and to feel its best.

Zinc deficiency is extremely common around the world. Around 1.1 billion people are reported to be zinc deficient, largely due to poor diets.

Yet zinc is one nutrient that plays an important role in your immune system’s ability to ward off viral infections and it may play a vastly underrated role in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zinc is vital for healthy immune function and a combination of zinc with a zinc ionophore (the molecule that transports zinc) was in 2010 shown to block viral replication of severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus in cell culture within minutes.

Other vitamins that work to boost your immunity are vitamins C, B6 and E. Vitamin C is well known for its immunity-boosting properties. Foods that are rich in vitamin C include oranges, peppers, strawberries and broccoli – to name but a few common fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin B6 supports biochemical reactions in the body and can be found in protein-rich foods such as chicken, salmon, tuna and chickpeas.

And vitamin E is an antioxidant – antioxidants work to protect cells against something called free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms that damage cells and can cause illness and ageing and are often linked to heart disease and cancer.

Foods that are rich in vitamin E are spinach, nuts, seeds, avocados and red peppers.

Sometimes it’s hard to get exactly the right amount of these immune-boosting vitamins through food alone depending on availability and the types of meals you regularly cook for yourself or your family.

If you find that you’re struggling, taking a vitamin supplement of any of the vitamins above every day can help instrumentally.

Get plenty of good quality sleep

You know those nights where you wake up after a long, deep sleep feeling refreshed and ready to start the day?

Well sadly, those can seem few and far between for most people – myself included! However, getting plenty of good quality sleep is one of the key ways in which you can boost your immune system and improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Sleep is the body’s time to repair and it’s when your body produces key immune cells. Yet all too often the daily stresses of life, coupled with too much time spent on our phones, a high caffeine consumption during the day or even a lack of a proper bedtime routine can all have a negative impact on your quality of sleep.

This study published in Behavioural Sleep Medicine even found that healthy young adults with insomnia were more susceptible to the flu even after having a flu jab compared to healthy young adults with no sleep problems.

The best investment you can make for yourself during this period of quarantine is to prioritise your sleep quality – not quantity.

If you have time off work, it can be tempting to go to sleep in the early hours and wake up at a different time than you usually would for work.

By all means adjust your sleep cycle to allow for a later wake-up time, but make sure that you are going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day to regulate your body’s internal clock.

If you struggle with getting a good night’s sleep, magnesium could be the answer. Known as “nature’s finest relaxant” it is clinically proven to have a calming effect on the entire body.

Make time for regular exercise

Despite the fact that gyms across the country have closed down due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is still ample opportunity to stay active even throughout the national quarantine.

A 2018 review by Frontiers in Immunology found that regular exercise not only decreases your chances of getting chronic diseases, but it also decreases your chances of catching bacterial and viral infections too.

Not only that but exercise releases feel-good endorphins that can improve depression, anxiety and overall stress.

When the body is stressed, it goes into fight-or-flight mode. When we were neanderthals, this response helped us to survive in life or death situations. But in the modern world, it’s still a response that’s emitted when we’re in stressful situations.

The body uses the hormone cortisol to regulate this stress but what happens is it prevents the immune system from operating until the stressful situation is over to give the body time to react to the original stressor.

However, when we’re in a constant state of stress this means that cortisol levels are always high. Your immune system is therefore constantly being repressed – which is why during times of high stress, more often than not you’ll find yourself getting ill.

The overarching theme here is to really look after yourself during these difficult times.

Coronavirus is undoubtedly having a profound effect on the world around us and now is the time to really prioritise your health and the health of your family.

But by following the steps recommended and sticking to the Government’s guidance, be comforted by the knowledge that you’re doing everything you can to reduce your risk around Covid-19.

Words by David Brassey, Nutritional Therapist who holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Nutritional Therapy and regularly attends seminars all over the globe to keep up to speed with the latest developments in the field of nutrition and wellbeing.

When he initially started in practice, he had difficulty sourcing nutritional supplements for his patients that had optimal levels of the very highest quality active ingredients.

This lead him to create his two businesses – Amrita Nutrition, which provides supplements to practitioners around the world, and Supplement Hub, its consumer arm which provides supplements to the general public to improve their health and wellbeing.

It’s Not The Virus, It’s The Host!

Let’s start to lower the panic about this Coronavirus-19! Man has survived many such pandemics before because we have the means to combat all infections. We all have the capability of beating any infective agent so long as our health is good.

Should we not be looking at our own health right now, doing all we can to begin boosting our immune systems and improving our general health and wellbeing? Rather than sitting in our “lockdown hutches” like frightened rabbits waiting patiently for some global pharmaceutical company to save us with their latest vaccination or wonder drug, shouldn’t we have the sense and the courage to take action to help ourselves?

The debate has rolled on for a century as to whether we are victims of infective agents or that we may be inviting them because of our poor health. It is more comforting to believe we can gain immunity from every virus, bacteria or infective agent by taking a pill or getting a jab of the latest vaccine.

The truth is vaccines don’t always work so well as we have been led to believe, and putting that disappointment to one side, they always carry a range of risks from minor adverse reactions to neurological damage or death. The one thing that is certain is that vaccines are a growing big business and that worries some of us when profit takes precedent over health safety. When the manufacturers were legally responsible for their safety, it was only a minor concern, but now the legal responsibility has been taken over by the government in the USA. Could this possibly have an adverse impact on a company’s concern for the safety of their products?

So how can we take more care of our own health? How can we prepare to defend ourselves better in case we are attacked by coronavirus-19 or any virus in the future?

There are four main pillars that support our health:

  • good nutrition
  • good exercise
  • good hygiene
  • good state of mind

In common sense ways:

  • Throw away the junk food and sugary treats, increase your fruit, vegetables, salads, whole grains, seeds and nuts
  • Enjoy a good walk in the open air. Take care when in contact with anyone who is sick, for their sake as much as for yours, (yes, wash your hands and keep your distance if possible)
  • Get plenty of sleep and don’t stress.
  • Learn to control your stress with better breathing and relaxation work. (As well as easing our stress through proper breathing, remember that our noses filter out dust and most irritating particles, also kill off most bacteria and activate our immune system against viruses – of particular importance during an epidemic! The nose moisturises any dry air we breathe in, and produces significant amounts of nitric oxide, NO. Nitric oxide is an essential part of our immune system as well as dilating blood vessels to improve circulation. Find out more about proper breathing through the nose.)

Crystals play an instrumental role in many spiritual practices as people incorporate them within their everyday routines to boost productivity, relieve stress, protect the immune system and enhance their skincare routines.  Adele blames losing her crystals for the sound problems in her 2016 Grammy performance and Katy Perry notes that she ‘carries a lot of rose quartz’ which ensures that she is ‘never single for long’.  Victoria Beckham has admitted to recruiting a crystal healer in her flagship store.

Crystals often spark images of gem stones that are used to replicate diamonds in the likes of costume jewellery.  However, crystals also consist of semi – precious stones and rocks that for the most part, are a crystalline form of minerals.  Crystals are said to contain vibrancy frequencies that alter energy and manipulate their surroundings. In skincare, the likes of tourmaline and rose quartz can transform problem skin.

Each crystal transmits its own energy and can be used as a tangible medium to manifest our intentions.  Many believe that believe that holding crystals reminds you of your intention and therefore amplifies your intentions.  Here, health and wellbeing specialist Jordan Carter at Instash presents a beginners guide to the most popular crystals with expert advice on their meaning, what are used for and how to use them to boost skincare and wellbeing.

Citrine – * Happiness * Prosperity * Generosity * Strength * Warmth * Digestion *

Lifestyle and Wellness – ‘Citrine is commonly used to attract money and is known as the ‘merchants stone’, says Carter.  ‘It is said to attract money, so it is wise to place it in your purse, on your office desk or anywhere else that is relevant to your financial wellbeing’.

Citrine is said to be one of the best crystals for healing the digestive system as it can work in aiding stomach pain, ulcers and acid reflux.

Crystal practitioners often use Citrine to alleviate anxiety and depression as it is said to absorb negativity however, it does not hold onto it.

Skincare – Citrine is a stone that generates happiness and holds regenerative properties which aids in cell renewal.  Citrine infused skincare helps to even skin tone and promote the skins radiance.

Rose quartz – * Love * Forgiveness * Jealousy * Anti-inflammatory * Calm *

Lifestyle and wellness – Arguably the most popular crystal in any practitioner’s collection, the rose quartz is a millennial pink stone that is said to balance, heal and transform emotions.  Rose Quartz can aid in heart break and is often gifted to those who have experienced a particularly bad break up.  Rose quartz can also attract love.

Rose quartz calms and takes away any tension and stress.  It can also boost circulation and has a cooling effect on the skin.  Rose quartz aids in settling skin that is inflamed.

Skincare – Beauty tools are having a moment.  Rose quartz rollers are excellent for skin conditions such as rosacea as it works the microcirculations which is the circulation of the smallest blood vessels in the skin.  The crystal is  made up of iron, oxygen and magnesium which flushes out dead skin cells.

‘Rose quartz is to be kept out of the sun to avoid losing its colour’, says Carter at Gear Hungry.  ‘The stone is made up of silicon dioxide and fibres known as dididumortierite that gives it its unique colour’.

Black Tourmaline – * Elimination of negative energy * Protector * Stress * Anti-Ageing *

Lifestyle and wellness – Known as the daily disinfectant for the soul, black tourmaline eliminates negative energy.  Those that practice crystals often place the crystal near to electronics such as computers, phones and televisions as it is a mineral that absorbs electromagnetic radiation.

Skincare – Working to break down the toxins and unclog pores, black tourmaline vitalizes the skin ensuring that it is youthful in its appearance.  When tourmaline is warmed, and rubbed onto the skin, they become positively charged at one end and negatively charged at the other.  For this reason, the crystal often features in exfoliants, moisturisers and anti-ageing products as they absorb nutrients into the skin.

Jordan Carter says, ‘If you are entering a situation or environment that you know is likely to have a negative impact on your wellbeing, such as public transport or crowded places, wear black tourmaline.’

Goldstone – * Ambition * Confidence * Energy * Motivation * Grounding *

Lifestyle and wellness – Goldstone is manmade glass that holds copper flecks that sparkle.  It is a stone that works to keep a person grounded, even in the most stressful moments.  The stone promotes wealth and will boost energy levels.  Goldstone is also said to boost self-belief and confidence.  It is an uplifting stone that endorses optimism and knowledge.

Skincare – Whilst goldstone may not have any known benefits to the skin, it is said to lower the pain in conditions such as arthritis and strengthen the circulatory system.

Rhodonite – * Acne * Calm * Gratefulness * Anxiety *

Lifestyle and wellness – Rhodonite is associated with emotional healing and can clear away emotional wounds and scars from the past.  The enables the likelihood of forgiveness.  The stone can alleviate confusion and see that you reach your full potential.

Skincare – The Rhodonite is said to lessen the chances of Acne scarring and can also lessen stress.  If rubbed on areas of the skin that are affected by acne, the magnesium within the stone aids in preventing scarring.  Rhodonite can in fact be used on all wounds.

With the onset of winter approaching, now is a good time to look at ways of boosting your immune system. We are all aware of the importance of a healthy diet and moderate exercise to keep us in check, however there are a few other ways of giving our immune system a helping hand…we’ve asked our Nutritonists to share their shocking ways to boost our immune system.

Hot and cold showers

Shona Wilkinson, Nutritonist at Superfooduk.com says “A simple way to change your existing routine is to change the temperature of the water to either hot or cold every two minutes. This works by increasing two types of white blood cells called Monocytes and Lymphocytes. The immune system is stimulated by your body trying to warm itself up from the cold water, while switching to hot water every now and then stimulates your body’s detoxification system. The fewer toxins we have in our body, the more your immune system is better able to deal with bacteria and viruses.”

Sex

Cassandra Barns, Nutritonist explains “There is a link between how much sex you have and how many sick days you take at work. Regular sex increases the number of IgA immune cells in your blood, keeping colds and flu in check.”

Physical touch

“A rub, a hug, and a passing touch all decrease the level of the stress hormone cortisol in your body. Cortisol decreases your immune response, so snuggle up to a loved one and enjoy the immune boosting properties of an embrace!” says Shona.

Socialising

Contrary to logical thinking about the spread of colds and flu, extensive research has proven time and time again that spending times with friends, family and community members is a great way to decrease your chance of catching a cold. After socialising, your immune system works better” says Wilkinson.

Music

Barns explains “Soothing yourself with music, whatever your tastes may be, activates the same feel good part of the brain as sex and food and increases the amount of Natural Killer immune cells in your blood. Better still, is making your own music. Musicians have even higher amounts of immune cells.”

Meditation and Yoga

“They work to increase immunity in two ways. Firstly it decreases the stress hormone cortisol, which has an immune suppressing affect, and secondly they have been shown to increase the electrical activity in the emotional part of your brain, which also commands your immune system what to do” explains Shona.

Relax

It’s nothing earth shattering – if you give your body a chance to ‘switch off’ and relieve the stresses of everyday life this will boost a suppressed immune system. Why? It seems that stress hampers the body’s ability to fight inflammation, by making immune cells less sensitive to the hormone, which ‘turns off’ inflammation.

Pet the dog

One study showed a significant increase in the immune cell IgA after petting a dog. If you don’t have a dog, you can borrow one from the local rescue centre, or try it out on your cat!

Get out in nature

People who spend time in parks and forests exhibit an increased function of the immune system. “There are certain chemicals that plants omit into the air called phytoncides, designed to protect plants from insects and from rotting. They also has a positive effect on human immune systems” says Shona.

Get your Zzz’s…

Dr Marilyn Glenville, the UK’s leading Nutritonist (www.marilynglenville.com) and author of Natural Alternatives to Sugar explains “As a society we are sleeping less; the time we sleep each night has reduced from 9 hours to 7.5 hours since the 1900s. Sleep is important for your health because it gives your body time to recharge its batteries and repair cells and tissue.  When you don’t get enough or good quality sleep you can feel irritable, with poor concentration, tired and more vulnerable to infections because your body does not have the strength to fight its own battles.

Inadequate sleep lowers our immune response. A recent study showed that missing even a few hours a night on a regular basis can decrease the number of ‘natural killer cells’, which are responsible for fighting off invaders such as bacteria and viruses. This will come as no surprise to those of us who succumb to colds and other illnesses when we are run down – normally after periods of inadequate sleep.”
